In Windows 7, there were Widgets. In Window 10, there are no Widgets. Is there anything analogous that will do the same thing?

There’s an app called Rainmeter that allows you do have widgets, but if i recall, it’s not terribly intuitive.
But looking it up so i could verify the name, i happened across this:

Wasn’t there a huge security flaw with those Windows 7 widgets?

So I've read. I thought there might be something new and safe.

I feel like you’re just supposed to go back to running programs instead of widgets...

As mentioned, MS abandoned their widgets due to huge security flaws that they couldn’t seem to patch. I’ve used Rainmeter for years to get easy to read (from across the room ) weather details on my HTPCs.

I've heard of Rainmeter, even downloaded it at one point. I need to look more closely at it.

Just remember that tons of people make skins ( tools) that can improve and add new features to the Rainmeter core. It's a multi-step process to get the functionality you want. Has the feeling of getting things setup for a Linux machine. Takes some time to get it right.

Anything I do will be rudimentary. A calendar, basically. Maybe a CPU meter. Like what I showed on Win7 in my initial post.
